Online magazine: issue 4

Brief

Working with the University of Reading's Creative Art Anthology team, my role was to design and digitally publish issue 4 of The Canvas Arts Online Magazine. The brand, which once was a printed publication, has since shifted their presence to an online landscape. Contributions from students are combined to create a vivid assortment of arts and creative literature.

Outcome

For this project, I taught myself to understand and write HTML & CSS to a good standard, for use with Cargo to design and release the Issue 4. The final design for the issue ensures that work is presented in an equal manner and an attention for legibility.

Creating Issue 4

Placed in a position within the Creative Arts Anthology team, my role as design lead was to design and publish the fourth issue of the digital magazine. Personal and set-team objectives for the project include cleaning up the issues and bugs that exists in the magazine's previous digital issues. As well as creating a 'handover' set of guidelines to be used subsequent designers who take the job in future.

The client and readers of the magazine were all pleased with the release of issue 4. Whilst the project may not have been the most complex job, it provided me the necessary reasoning to finally learning CSS and HTML which will certainly become useful in future. I look forward to seeing further released issues and the continued evolution of The Canvas magazine.
